Beigel and Brew
About This Spot
Stepping into Beigel and Brew on Hackney Road feels like finding a cherished corner of the neighborhood where time moves at a gentle, welcoming pace. The hum of soft conversation mingles with the rich, comforting scent of freshly ground coffee and warm baked goods, creating an inviting atmosphere that embraces both regulars and curious first-timers alike. It’s a place where moments linger — a quiet refuge to savor the simple joys of a thoughtfully crafted cup and a freshly made bagel.
Here, the mood is unpretentious yet attentive, balancing a casual neighborhood vibe with a sense of genuine care. The friendly faces behind the counter add a touch of warmth that makes each visit feel like a small celebration of community and craft. Mornings start bright with the aroma of specialty coffee pulling you in, while afternoons gently shift to quieter conversations over sweet treats that feel both familiar and surprisingly original.
At Beigel and Brew, the food follows the rhythm of the space. The salt beef bagel, dense with flavor and texture, sits beautifully alongside an unexpected Russian honey cake slice, each bite telling a story of thoughtfulness rather than rush. The bakery’s offerings feel handpicked, as if designed to invite slow savoring—from flaky croissants to the subtle sweetness of pistachio lattes, and even a rotating "bagel of the week" that hints at playful creativity rooted in tradition.
It’s the kind of place that naturally draws together a mix of people: early risers grabbing a breakfast sandwich on the go, friends caught up over a latte smoothie, and locals discovering midday surprises like Kyrgyz fare tucked into the afternoon menu. The sense of care extends beyond the counter, visible in the little gestures that make a morning better—a warm smile, a slice of cake shared unexpectedly, moments that weave this coffee shop into the fabric of the neighborhood.
In this quietly lively spot, Beigel and Brew feels less like a stop on a map and more like a personal discovery — a place where everyday routines gain a touch of warmth and where the kitchen’s offerings echo the generosity of spirit that fills the room.

Lovely honey cake and coffee. Not the cheapest but it’s worth the money. Friendly atmosphere.

Honestly, the best Honey cake I've ever eaten. The other cakes are amazing too, but the Honey cake takes the prize. Also excellent customer care and service, I was even given a free slice of a cake today! Made my morning, and the rest of the day. Thank you!

Delicious honey cake and a very nice owner. A cute bagel and coffe place turns into a kyrgyz restaurant in the afternoon.

Outstanding food: the honey cake was incredible. The salt beef bagel was also a 10/10. Exceptionally friendly and warm service.

An absolute delight. Visited twice in one weekend. The southern fried chicken bagel and the bagel of the century were both delicious. The chai latte is the best I’ve had in a long time. The matcha latte was also great. The pastries are equally amazing. The honey cake is so delicious. The indoor seating area is super cozy and homey, and the staff are friendly and kind. What a great find.

Really, *really* good. Friendly, patient guy serving (who didn’t rush smaller guests when picking their lunch). Child friendly, without being a kiddy cafe. Lovely decor, great music. The beigels and coffee were delicious; the beigels in particular are obviously baked freshly within the past couple of hours. Prices super reasonable for this part of London.

Went in not expecting anything as I was just walking down the street. What a sweet little place! Staff were incredibly friendly and the 2 bagels we had (bacon, egg, cheese & southern fried chicken bagels) were both delicious. The bacon and egg one especially was sublime and I would give it 6 stars if I could.
